Mental Health Awareness and Skills-based Training
Poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion each year. BUT for every £1 spent by employers on mental health interventions, they get back £5 in reduced absence, presenteeism, and staff turnover (Deloitte, 2020).
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.
In a nutshell…
“We all have mental health. Better mental health is good for everyone and recognising this is good for society.
We want a society where everyone can thrive. We believe in zero stigma surrounding mental health. We want mental health to be openly discussed and supported.
We want our training to create an unshakable belief that we can all talk freely about mental health and seek support when we need it. We will achieve this through our mission to train one in ten people in mental health awareness and skills
– MHFA England
We delivered the first MHFA courses to Siemens Plc in 2016!
What Will Attendees Achieve?
The MHFA courses will enable you to gain an understanding of issues surrounding mental health, how and why positive and negative mental health affects people and how to work more effectively with people experiencing mental health problems.
You’ll develop a greater understanding of mental health issues and how to help in situations on a first aid basis. For example, you’ll learn techniques to help someone experiencing a panic attack or confidently start a conversation around mental health with someone who you are concerned about.
You’ll gain an increased understanding of common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and psychosis. You’ll also learn how to look after your own mental health.
Who Can Attend?
Simply, the courses are open to anyone! If you would like to increase your knowledge and confidence of people’s mental health issues and know why this is important, then this is the course for you. The courses have a very practical approach to learning and after the course you will become an accredited Mental Health First Aider.
